In June, 2008, I made the bold step of leaving an abusive relationship for good. I was going through many personal and professional challenges, including job loss, unstable living conditions and lack of transportation. I continuously shared my story with individuals and organizations while simultaneously pursued tangible resources for myself and my children. Despite being college educated, relatively comfortable speaking to groups and having been involved with prominent people and organizations in my community, I was extremely ignorant to addressing the holistically challenging problems that arise when dealing with issues of abuse.
Every aspect of what we do here is a direct reflection of needs expressed by victims, survivors, advocates and the community at large. I’m honored to serve as the Executive Director of WIANL and will continue to serve as a representative for those who need our help.
