Continuing Community Service

Colonel RyallColonel Mike Ryall is a past recipient of our Male DV Advocacy Award. We caught up with this very busy and dedicated community servant to share some of the things he’s been up to lately. Colonel Ryall says “Since receiving my award,  I celebrated my 30th year with the City Of Memphis Police Department (June of 2013).  It is truly unbelievable that time has flown by that swiftly.  In August of this year, I left Investigative Services and was reassigned to the Ridgeway Precinct as their Commander.  The Ridgeway area poses a host of problems, but it also has a great amount of people in this community that want to make a positive change.  I miss investigations, but have already learned so much by this reassignment and am excited to undertake this new adventure.

One of my great heartaches in this world is the abuse committed against children by predators.  Memphis and Shelby County have the distinct blessing of having one of the finest Child Advocacy Centers in the country.  It is an amazing place with amazing people that work diligently to reduce and rid our community of this terrible crime.  I have had the great fortune to be asked to participate on the Board of Directors with the CAC.  What a great honor!  In accepting this honor, I have been busy with the day to day growth and operations of the CAC.

I also continue to work with the Plough Foundation, the Family Safety Center, and the Domestic Violence Bureau in an effort to develop a strategy to combat elder abuse in our community.

I continue to consult with Olliette Murry-Drobot and the Family Safety Center as they grow into a permanent fixture in Shelby County, TN. “

We continue to be grateful to him for being sincere and dedicated to positive change and awareness regarding domestic violence and sexual assault.
