Tony Porter Returns to Memphis October 2nd

When I first started speaking out about domestic violence, I was very interested in learning more about the male’s role in it. The news often shows the man as the aggressor, the defender and the primary source of all things hurtful and harmful regarding abuse. And, while it’s true that much of the aggression reported lists men as the aggressors, I’ve also believed that there are male advocates and male victims that often fly under the radar. I was determined to find ways to locate these men, interact with them and work with them in an effort to bring their efforts and stories to light. I have often said that there have been men in my life who’ve caused my pain regarding abuse. But, it was through the encouragement and support of a man that I now live a happy and healthy life.

When I learned about A Call To Men, I became very persistent in meeting Mr. Porter, learning more about his organization and why “the man box”. I’m grateful to have established a meaningful relationship with a man who has a sincere passion for the work. His commitment to helping men understand their role in abuse and how to help other men get out of ‘the man box” is imperative to the mission of ending violence against women. We welcome him back and appreciate his insights to help our community gain more awareness and tangible change to end violence and establish self sufficiency.

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Anthony “Tony” Porter, Co-Founder of A Call To Men, will be returning as our special guest as we continue to support and advocate for male involvement regarding domestic violence and sexual assault.

Tony is an international lecturer, educator and activist who has worked in the social justice arena for over twenty years. He is the author of “Well Meaning Men…Breaking Out of the Man Box-Ending Violence Against Women” and visionary for the book, “NFL Dads: Dedicated to Daughters”. We’ve had the pleasure to work with him in the past and are honored to so again.

We’d love to have as many who are interested to participate in some way. Please contact us asap to learn more about how to do so. ~JP
