As we continue to honor great fathers & father figures during the month of June, we ask that you take some time to read about Richard Robinson. Mr. Robinson lives in Vacaville, CA and was nominated by Paris Ducker. Mr. Robinson’s favorite hobbies include hunting, watching classic movies and spending time with his family. He attends Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, CA.
Our favorite part of the nominations the wonderful comments shared by the nominees. Paris’ response as to why she chose to nominate her father is as followed:
“He is a great example of a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is Daddy, Dad, and PaPa. He loves his family and brags on us all of the time. He is a former fire fighter in San Francisco, CA. He joined the fire department at a time when it was difficult for black men to join and there was a great deal of discrimination taking place. But I watched him study diligently and pass the test. We still have pictures of him graduating and it was a proud moment for the family and community.
He married my mom when I was 3 years old and has always been “daddy” to me. My love of music, comedy and exploring comes from daddy; he always insisted that we watch documentaries, and learn about other countries or cultures. He loved boxing and watching ABC Wide World of Sports on Saturdays. He is a great example of a father that has loved his family through thick and thin, wrong or right, heartbreak, forgiveness and acceptance.”
Thanks so much to Mr. Robinson for being an example of leadership, faith and family. It is evident he is loved and appreciated by many. We are grateful Paris chose to share her amazing dad with the rest of us!
